OneNote Subsection Passcode Stopped Working

I noticed my subsection passcode no longer will work but not due to a lost or forgotten passcode. I've had the same passcode on the subsection of my OneNote for over a year, and just yesterday started to get an error that the password is incorrect. I did not change the passcode, and I had the same passcode for two subsections, neither of which will work now. Has there been an update that may have impacted my ability to access these OneNote sections?

    Hello JPellerin

    I can see that you are having issue with OneNote subsection passcode

    Here is what you can do to check:

    • Open the same notebook in another OneNote app or device (desktop, mobile, or web). If it opens there, remove or change the password right away while the section is still unlocked.
    • If the notebook is shared, confirm whether another owner or author may know the password for that section.
    • If the notebook is stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, check Version History for the affected section file and see whether an earlier copy can be restored.
    • If needed, try running an Office repair to rule out an app-side problem. You can refer to this site for instruction: Repair an Office application
