In Outlook on the web/Outlook.com, meeting invitations always go to the calendar that belongs to the account receiving the email. To have invites end up on a Google calendar instead of the default “computer only”/Outlook calendar, the practical approach is to surface the Google calendar inside Outlook and then manage events there.
Use one of these methods:
- Add the Google calendar into Outlook (subscription)
- In Google Calendar, open Settings and sharing for the calendar.
- Under Integrate calendar, copy the Secret address in iCal format URL.
- In Outlook (web or desktop, depending on version), open your calendar and choose Add calendar > From Internet.
- Paste the iCal URL and confirm to subscribe.
- The Google calendar will now appear in Outlook; you can move or recreate events there as needed.
- Import events from Outlook into Google (one‑time)
- Export the relevant Outlook calendar to an .ics file.
- In Outlook, go to File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
- Choose Import an iCalendar (.ics) or vCalendar file (.vcs) and select the file.
- Choose Open as New or import into an existing calendar.
- If using a Google account connected to Microsoft Cloud
- Calendars shared with the Google account will automatically appear in the Outlook calendar list; the Open Shared Calendar button does not apply to Google calendars.
- There is a 20‑calendar limit for shared Google calendars.
Note that Outlook does not change the “target” calendar for an invite to a different provider’s calendar automatically; instead, connect/subscribe to the Google calendar in Outlook and then manage or copy events into that calendar.
