So I got to log in to my old account for example:

**Moderator note: PII ****@hotmail.com

then It responds with this does exist try another.

I then go to create an account

Moderator note: PII removed**@hotmail.com**

and am told it's in use. I'm trying to login into an old hotmail account and it isn't working and won't let me rest or acknowledge it's real. I have contacted all the Microsoft numbers and have gotten: "Please visit this website where we won't help your problem until you sign into that account. Good bye!" Microsoft your move please dear God I'm losing my mind.

    Welcome User97,

Please note that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to hide your personal information in the description. Kindly ensure that you hide any personal or organizational information the next time you post an error or other details to protect personal data.

I Understand how frustrating it can be when you’re trying to sign in to an old Hotmail account, but you’re getting conflicting messages saying the address doesn’t exist while also being told it’s already in use, which is very frustrating.

To help resolve this as quickly as possible, could you please confirm the following details:

    • Approximately when was the last time you successfully signed in to this Hotmail account?
    • Have you already tried the Microsoft account recovery form at least once for this email address?

I look forward to your reply so we can continue working together to address the issue.

    Hello

This means the email address has been deleted.

Microsoft's error messaging is really poorly written. Microsoft doesn't allow recycling its email addresses, so when one is deleted, you cannot create a new one with the same username.

Do you remember deleting/closing the account? Or did you not use the account for at least 2 years? If so, it is closed permanently due to the inactivity policy.
