Office 365 is missing Office 365 Teams

I've installed Office 365. It should come with Office 365 Teams. My free (i.e., limited) version remains the free (limited) version. Outlook does not show any indication that I can hold an online meeting with it. Where is Office 365 Teams? How do I get Outlook to recognize it?

There’s no product called office 365 anymore.

it’s either Microsoft 365, which is your subscription service. Is that what you have ? If so is it Microsoft 365 personal or family? The outlook add in is only for Microsoft 365 business tier. But you should still have Teams enhanced features like longer meeting time, more participants and meeting recording, etc.

or do you have the one time purchase called office home2024? If so this doesn’t include Teams meeting enhanced features.

let me know what you have first so we can sort this out.

Office 365 (now Microsoft 365) plans for home can install the Teams application even if the subscription does not include the full Teams service. In that case, Teams runs in a free or trial mode and Outlook will not offer full Teams meeting integration.

    Key points and actions:

    1. Teams license vs. Teams app
      • Some Microsoft 365/Office 365 plans include Microsoft 365 Apps but do not include the Teams service.
      • In those plans, the Teams app is still installed, but the account only gets access to a free or exploratory (trial) version of Teams, not the fully licensed service.
      • This is why Teams appears as a free/limited version even though Office 365 is installed.
    2. How Teams is installed with Microsoft 365 Apps
      • When Microsoft 365 Apps is installed, the Teams installer is included and runs for each new user signing into the device, installing Teams in that user’s profile.
      • This behavior is the same as when using the MSI-based installer for Teams.
    3. Why Outlook does not show online meeting (Teams) options
      • The Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Outlook requires:
        • A Microsoft 365 subscription that includes Teams.
        • A Teams license assigned to the account.
        • Supported Outlook and Windows versions.
        • The Teams desktop client installed on the same machine.
      • If the subscription does not include the Teams service (only the apps), Outlook will not enable the Teams Meeting add-in for that account, so no “Teams meeting” option appears.
    4. How to get full Teams and Outlook integration
      • Verify that the subscription actually includes the Teams service (not just Microsoft 365 Apps). If it does not, upgrading or adding a plan that includes Teams is required for full integration.
      • For plans without Teams, a free trial (Teams Exploratory) may be available when signing in to Teams. This trial is time-limited and still may not provide the same integration as a fully licensed Teams service.

In summary, Outlook does not recognize Teams for online meetings because the current Office 365/Microsoft 365 plan does not include a full Teams service/license, even though the Teams app is installed. Obtaining a subscription that includes the Teams service is required for full Teams Meeting integration in Outlook.
