Dear @Hirak Debnath,
I understand how confusing this can be, especially since the Visio key worked previously.
Based on Microsoft’s guidance, the issue you’re encountering is most likely due to a compatibility and activation conflict. Therefore, to better understand the issue and recommend the most appropriate solution, could you please help confirm the following:
- How was Visio 2016 Professional originally installed on this device? Was it installed using a downloaded installer (MSI), or Office Deployment Tool?
- How did you purchase Visio 2016 Professional? (Microsoft Store, or a third‑party reseller?)
- When did the activation issue start occurring?
- Are you signed in to Microsoft 365 with a work/school account or a personal Microsoft account (@outlook.com, @hotmail.com)?
- Could you please share a screenshot of the activation screen you’re seeing in Visio? Please make sure to blur or cover any personal or sensitive information (such as email addresses, product keys details) before sharing the screenshot.
While you currently have Microsoft 365 Pro (Click‑to‑Run) installed on the same Windows device, and Microsoft 365 Apps are present, Visio 2016 Professional (perpetual license) installed using the older MSI method is not supported on the same computer. For reference, please refer to Use the Office Deployment Tool to install volume licensed versions of Project 2016 and Visio 2016 and Using Office product keys
Note: If there's an error message when you try to redeem a product key, see Problems with your Microsoft 365 for business product key?
Therefore, here are some following supported options I recommend you look through:
Step 1: Reinstall Visio 2016 using Click‑to‑Run
Microsoft supports installing Visio 2016 alongside Microsoft 365 by using the Office Deployment Tool (Click‑to‑Run) instead of the MSI installer. This allows Visio 2016 Pro to coexist with Microsoft 365, and activation will work correctly using the appropriate Visio 2016 volume license key.
Step 2: Uninstall Microsoft 365 Apps
If you prefer to keep your existing MSI‑based Visio 2016 installation, Microsoft 365 Apps must be removed first. After that, Visio 2016 can be activated normally with your product key.
If possible, I recommend moving to a Visio subscription plan. This version integrates natively with Microsoft 365 and activates by signing in with your work or school account, rather than using a product key. For reference: Compare Visio Options
Using a subscription plan avoids product‑key activation conflicts altogether and is fully supported alongside Microsoft 365 Apps, providing a more seamless and reliable experience going forward.

I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue working together to narrow this down.
The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward for your reply.
