New android and now my workplace onedrive will not work

I cannot use onedrive on my android. I have uninstalled apps, cleared data and cache, reinstalled, set up the accounts and the onedrive is still showing correct photo, correct email, but incorrect account info. It shows as personal account and storage is full so outlook and onedrive are no longer working. I have a workplace account with 2TB and I cannot change or add to log into that account in app. I do not use the onedrive personal and it should be empty, it now has my workplace files on it but of course it doesn't work since it states I am over storage limit and will not open unless I buy more. I need the personal onedrive account deleted and I need to be able to log into my onedrive workplace account so I can sync files and open files again.

I purchased through godaddy and they will not help me and will not escalate. They keep saying contact microsoft. But of course I cannot contact microsoft and there is no microsoft customer service and even if I get a human, they will say contact godaddy. I am at the end of my rope on this. Any help is appreciated very much.

    Hi @Donna Laforge

Having the OneDrive app forcefully default to a full, unusable personal account while blocking your actual 2TB business tier, even after clearing caches and reinstalling.

Since clearing the app data hasn't worked, the Android operating system itself might be holding onto those personal account credentials at the system level, overriding the app's internal login process.

Let's try removing that personal profile directly from your device's core settings to force a clean slate:

Open your Android device's main Settings app > Scroll down and tap on Users & accounts depending on your specific Android version > Look through the list of accounts for the problematic personal email associated with OneDrive and Outlook > Tap on the account and select Remove account. (Make sure to do this for both OneDrive and Outlook if they appear) > Once the accounts are completely removed from the list, restart your phone > Open the OneDrive app again and attempt to log in using strictly your workplace account credentials.

If the issue still persists and the app continues to block you, please provide the information below in private message to help me assist you better:

-Are you currently able to log into your 2TB workplace OneDrive account successfully through a web browser on a computer?

-Could you please provide the email addresses for both the personal and business accounts?

Please let me know more details.

On OneDrive for Android, a personal account and a work or school account are handled separately in the same app. The app can show the same profile photo and similar email-style addresses, but the account type and storage are determined by how the account is added and what service it belongs to.

To get the work OneDrive (with 2 TB) working on Android and avoid using the personal OneDrive:

    1. Add the work account explicitly in the OneDrive app
      1. Open the OneDrive app on Android.
      2. Tap the profile picture or account icon.
      3. Tap Add account.
      4. Sign in with the work account credentials (the Microsoft 365 account that has the 2 TB OneDrive for work or school).
      5. If prompted, follow any organization-specific steps. Some organizations require installing OneDrive in a Work Profile from Google Play; in that case, sign-in may complete automatically after installing in the Work Profile.
    2. Switch to the correct account
      1. In the OneDrive app, tap the profile picture or icon again.
      2. Under the list of accounts, tap the work or school account so it becomes the active OneDrive.
      3. Confirm that the storage shown now matches the work account (larger quota) and that work files appear there.
    3. Stop using the personal OneDrive in the app Since only one personal OneDrive account is allowed in the app, but multiple work or school accounts are supported, keep the work account and either:
      • Leave the personal account unused, or
      • Remove it from the app by signing out of that personal account if the app offers that option under the profile/account settings.
    4. If the app is still behaving incorrectly If the app keeps mixing data or not launching/syncing correctly even after adding the work account:
      1. Open Android Settings > Applications.
      2. Scroll down and select OneDrive.
      3. Select Storage, then tap Clear data and Clear cache.
      4. Go back, tap Force Stop.
      5. Uninstall OneDrive.
      6. Reinstall OneDrive from Google Play and repeat step 1 to add only the work account first.

Note that the OneDrive app itself does not delete or merge Microsoft accounts; it only connects to them. Deleting a personal Microsoft account or moving files between personal and work OneDrive requires account and data management outside the Android app, which is not covered in the provided material.
