Looking to upgrade my 2019 Outlook for MAC as I am still using the legacy version.

I have many email folders, so I need to make sure I can export everything from Outlook 2019 if I move to the newer 2024 Office Home and Business platform

    Hi Jay Bernard

I understand you want to upgrade from Outlook 2019 (Legacy Outlook for Mac) to Office Home & Business 2024 for Mac, and you need to ensure you can keep/export all folders and mail before moving. I am happy to assist you. Are you currently using Legacy Outlook for Mac (the version where Export/Import to .olm is available), or New Outlook?

    1) About a “phone number for Outlook 2019 for Mac” (home)

Support for Office 2019 for Mac ended on Oct 10, 2023, and after end of support you no longer receive phone or chat technical support for that product. See: End of support for Office 2019 for Mac - Microsoft Support

    2) Safest way to keep all mail/folders before upgrading: create an Outlook data backup (.olm) now

Export to an Outlook for Mac Data File (.olm) to archive mail, contacts, calendar, etc.. This export feature is only available in Legacy Outlook for Mac.

See: Import email messages, contacts, and other items into Outlook for Mac - Microsoft Support

Please note that the toggle to revert to Legacy Outlook is missing in Office 2024 Home & Business for Mac (by design). So if you rely on Legacy Outlook features like .olm export/import, you should do the export before moving fully to Office 2024 Home & Business. See: The Toggle Button to revert to Legacy Outlook Client is missing in Office 2024 Home and Business fo…

    3) Getting Microsoft support

Visit: Help > Contact Support (when available). See: Contact support within Outlook for Mac - Microsoft Support

Thank you for your understanding. Have a lovely day!

Outlook 2019 for Mac and legacy Outlook for Mac are both still usable, but support is changing and there is no direct dedicated phone line just for Outlook 2019 for Mac home users.

For home (personal) use, support is provided through in‑product help and online flows rather than a direct phone number:

    1. For Outlook for Mac issues (including legacy Outlook):
      • Open Outlook for Mac.
      • Go to Help > Contact Support to reach Microsoft support from within the app.
      • If Contact Support is missing, check the reasons listed in Contact support within Outlook for Mac (for example, version too old, privacy/diagnostics disabled, or using the free version without a Microsoft 365/Office license).
    2. If using a Microsoft account (home/personal):
      • Use Help > Contact Support in Outlook for Mac as above.
      • There is no guaranteed direct phone number path for consumer Outlook for Mac; the documented path is via in‑app support and online help.
    3. If using a work or school account through an organization:
      • Contact the organization’s help desk. They can open a support ticket with Microsoft (Premier/enterprise support) on the user’s behalf.

Regarding upgrading and keeping all mail folders:

    1. Legacy Outlook for Mac end of support:
      • Legacy Outlook for Mac will stop working with Exchange Online mailboxes starting October 2026, because it uses Exchange Web Services (EWS), which is being retired in Exchange Online.
      • The legacy client will continue to work with Exchange on‑premises mailboxes.
    2. Moving from legacy Outlook 2019 for Mac to newer Outlook/Office on Mac:
      • The latest Outlook for Mac has been part of Microsoft 365 and newer Office for Mac releases for several years and is the recommended client.
      • To switch from legacy Outlook to the new Outlook interface on a supported build, open Outlook for Mac and turn off the Legacy Outlook toggle. If the toggle is not present, update Outlook from Help > Check for Updates or install the newer Outlook from the Apple App Store.
    3. Office 2019 for Mac to Office 2024 for Mac:
      • Office 2019 for Mac is out of support (no security updates or bug fixes after October 10, 2023), but it can still be used.
      • To move to Office 2024 for Mac (such as Office Home & Business 2024), install the new Office 2024 suite and remove the old 2019 license using the License Removal Tool as documented. The apps themselves do not need to be removed; after license removal, sign in with the account for the new Office license and run Help > Check for Updates.
    4. Mail and folders when upgrading:
      • The documented upgrade path from Office 2019 for Mac to a newer Office for Mac (including Office 2024) does not require uninstalling Outlook; it focuses on changing the license. Existing Outlook profiles and data remain in place when only the license is changed.
      • When switching from legacy Outlook to the new Outlook for Mac on the same machine, the mailbox is reconnected using modern sync technology; server‑based mail and folders (Exchange, Microsoft 365, Outlook.com, IMAP) remain on the server and are resynchronized.
      • For additional safety, export important data (such as local‑only folders or POP accounts) before making changes. Use Outlook’s export options to create a backup of local data, then proceed with switching to the new Outlook and/or changing to Office 2024.

For any issues during the move (for example, blocked from features or problems with the new Outlook), use Help > Contact Support in Outlook for Mac if available, or, for work/school accounts, have the organization open a support ticket.
