Yes. A Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription covers PC, Mac, tablets, and phones, so Word and Excel can be installed on the new iPad at no extra cost, as long as the same subscription account is used.

On iPad, the apps are free for basic use on screens 10.1" or smaller. For an iPad Pro or to unlock the full feature set (for example, advanced Word, Excel, and PowerPoint features), a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription is required.

To set it up on the iPad M4:

    1. On the iPad, open the App Store and install the standalone apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or the Microsoft 365 app.
    2. Open any of the apps (for example, Excel).
    3. Sign in with the same Microsoft account or Microsoft 365 work/school account used for the existing Microsoft 365 subscription on the PC.
    4. If prompted to upgrade, choose Maybe later to keep using the apps with the current subscription, or review upgrade options if the account is tied to a one-time Office purchase instead of Microsoft 365.
    5. After signing in, the account is automatically added to that app and any other Microsoft 365 apps installed on the iPad.

If the device screen is larger than 10.1" (for example, an iPad Pro), a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription is required to create and edit documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
