Hi CS,
Losing access to an Outlook.com account right after approving a sign-in can be really worrying, especially if the mailbox contained sensitive information. Since this is a public, user-to-user forum, no one here has access to Microsoft’s account systems to look up, restore, or reverse account changes directly, but there are a few official recovery paths you can still try.
1, Start with the Sign-in Helper
Use the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper and enter the exact email address (or phone/Skype name) you used to sign in. This tool checks the account status and routes you to the supported recovery options for that account. Microsoft account sign-in helper - Microsoft Support
The “hacked/compromised account” flow also points to this helper first: How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account - Microsoft Support
2, Submit the Account Recovery Form
If the Sign-in Helper routes you to the recovery form, complete it carefully and with as much accurate history as you can (old passwords, services used, subject lines of recent emails, contacts you emailed, etc.). Use a working contact email where you can receive replies. Help with the Microsoft account recovery form - Microsoft Support
Important note: if two-step verification was enabled and you no longer have access to any verification methods, the normal recovery path may not be able to complete verification for the account.
3, Check whether the account was closed (there is a limited reopen window)
In some takeover scenarios, an account may end up “closed” (or marked for closure). If that happened, signing in at the account portal may offer an option to reopen it within the grace period. Reopen your Microsoft account
4, If self-service cannot restore access, use the official Support contact path
If the Sign-in Helper and recovery form cannot locate the account or cannot verify ownership, the next supported step is to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance. You can follow below steps to reach a live chat agent:
- Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support
- In the search bar provided on the page, type "Account Recovery" and press Enter.
- Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.
- Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.
- When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".
- For the category, choose "Manage Account Security".
- Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".
- When prompted, provide a valid contact email where Microsoft can reach you regarding your case.
- Explain your situation clearly: Be concise but provide all the relevant details.
I hope this helps clarify the available recovery options and points you to the next best step.
