Office 2010 can still be activated on Windows 10 using the same methods as on earlier Windows versions.

    1. Open any Office 2010 app (for example, Word 2010).
    2. Select File > Help.
    3. Click Activate Product Key.
      • If Activate Product Key is not shown, Office is already activated.
    4. Follow the steps in the Activation Wizard:
      • To activate online, choose I want to activate the software over the Internet and complete the prompts.
      • If the Internet activation fails or the connection is slow, choose the option to activate by telephone and follow the prompts.

If activation still fails (for example, because Office 2010 has been installed too many times), use the telephone activation path and stay on the line until connected to a support agent, who can assist with activation on the new device.

Note that Office 2010 is no longer supported. To continue receiving updates and support, consider upgrading to Microsoft 365 or a newer Office version.

Do you need further assistance with this? Usually, Office 2010 must be installed via a DVD or CD. For activation, use the appropriate phone number for your region from the article at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/-telephone-activation-is-no-longer-supported-for-your-product-error-when-activating-office-9b016cd2-0811-4cb3-b896-5a6a13177713 .

    Hello Susan Newton,

I see that you want to active Office 2010 on Windows 10. Let me assist you go through this situation.

    First, important note:

    I suggest you try this:

    1. Activate online (try first)
    1. Open Word 2010
    2. Go to File > Help
    3. Click Activate Product Key
    4. Follow the prompts

If you don’t see the option > Office may already be activated.

    1. If online fails > use phone activation
    1. In the Activation Wizard, select I want to activate by telephone
    2. Choose your country and call the number shown
    3. Provide the Installation ID
    4. Enter the Confirmation ID you receive

If the automated call doesn’t work, try calling again and wait to reach a support agent.

    Official guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/activate-office-2010-1fe7340c-50e2-458f-8677-f57f5a140f46

    1. Run Office as administrator (quick fix)
    1. Close all Office apps
    2. Search Word in Start
    3. Right-click > Run as administraton
    4. Try activation again
    1. Check your license type

If your version is Professional Plus (Volume License), it may require KMS or MAK activation (usually provided by an organization).

Standard retail versions use the normal activation steps above

    1. Verify your product key

    Make sure:

    • It’s an Office 2010 key (not Windows)
    • It matches your edition (Retail vs Volume)

    It hasn’t exceeded activation limits

    If it still doesn’t work:

    • Because Office 2010 is no longer supported, activation may fail even with correct steps.
    • In that case, please consider upgrading to a newer version like Microsoft 365 for full support and reliability.

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.

    Best Regards,
