Have followed a previous op on the above problem and so far I've had zero luck or progress. Bluetooth has vanished. I've changed the system settings to automatic as recommended but still nothing has appeared in device manager. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

    Hi Gamercat-4408,

We should not deny the possibility that the Bluetooth card has hardware problem.

Some BIOS have a menu that lists external devices, you may enter your BIOS to see if the Bluetooth device is recognized there.

You may also check the physical connection between the Bluetooth card and your motherboard, it might be loosened or damaged.

Or the Bluetooth card has physical damage on its circuit. In this case, it should be replaced.

You may send your computer to a service center for further assistance.

If you have further information, please feel free to let me know.

    Hi, good day!

When was the last time it worked properly?

Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

Please let me know if you have tried the methods below.

    • Shutdown your computer

Unplug the power cable from the laptop for 30 minutes, then plug it in again and turn on.

    This will open Services app

Find Bluetooth Support service in the list

Right click it then select Restart

Right click it again then select Properties

Click General Tab, in the Startup Type option, choose Automatic in the drop-down list.

    Click Apply and OK.

    Restart your computer.

    • Please try to turn off Fast startup

Press Start then search Control panel

Under View by > select Small icons

    Select Power Options

On the left side, click "Choose what power buttons do"

Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable"

Under Shutdown settings > Turn off fast startup

Power off the system then pull the power cable from the laptop, wait for 15 minutes.

    Power back on

I look forward to your update and am happy to continue working with you until the issue is resolved. If you find the answer helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and consider upvoting it. Otherwise, please keep me posted by clicking "Add comments" below instead of selecting Yes or No.

Trouble shooter isn't working/ I give consent etc and it tries to work then says oops somethings not working. Try updating manually, which I have already and still not working. Pc has Bluetooth as previously used it and now cannot use my head set. Nothing appears in device manager despite doing any of the above and previous recommended help from 4 years ago to op.

Try the following steps in order on Windows 11 when Bluetooth is completely missing (no toggle, no Device Manager entry):

    1. Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter
    2. Check that the PC actually has Bluetooth
      • Some devices do not include Bluetooth hardware.
      • Verify in the device’s product specifications that Bluetooth is supported. If the device has no Bluetooth hardware, it will not appear in Device Manager or Settings.
    3. Make sure Airplane mode is off
      • Press Windows + A to open Quick settings.
      • Ensure Airplane mode is turned off.
    4. Install or update Bluetooth drivers
      • Select Start > Device Manager.
      • If Bluetooth is listed:
        1. Expand Bluetooth and right‑click the Bluetooth adapter (may include the word “radio”).
        2. Select Update driver > Search automatically for updated driver software.
        3. Complete the wizard, then restart: Start > Power > Restart.
      • If Bluetooth is not listed, check under Other devices for any unknown device that might be the Bluetooth adapter and update its driver the same way.
      • If Windows cannot find a driver, go to the PC manufacturer’s website, download the latest Bluetooth driver, and install it (either by running the .exe installer or using Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers and pointing to the folder with the .inf/.sys files).
    5. Uninstall and reinstall the Bluetooth adapter (if it appears)
      • In Device Manager, expand Bluetooth.
      • Right‑click the Bluetooth adapter and select Uninstall device > Uninstall.
      • Select Start > Power > Shut down.
      • After shutdown, wait a few seconds, then power the PC back on. Windows will try to reinstall the driver automatically.
      • If it does not reinstall, open Device Manager and select Action > Scan for hardware changes.
    6. Check for Windows Updates
      • Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
      • Select Check for updates and install all available updates, then restart.

If Bluetooth hardware is present and these steps do not restore it, contact the PC or motherboard manufacturer for the latest Bluetooth drivers or to check for a possible hardware fault.
