I understand how frustrating it can be when you’re unable to switch out of S mode due to the Microsoft Store closing unexpectedly. I’m happy to guide you through some steps that have helped others resolve this issue.
- I recommend waiting a few hours and trying again, as the Microsoft Store service may be temporarily unavailable.
- Please ensure you are connected to a stable and reliable internet connection.
- Try signing out of the Microsoft Store, then sign back in and attempt to switch out of S mode again.
- You can also reset the Microsoft Store cache:
Press Windows + R
Type 'wsreset.exe -i' (without quotes)
Click OK, wait about 10 seconds, then try again
If the issue still persists, you may try repairing Windows using System Recovery without removing your files or apps:
Go to Start > Settings > System > Recovery
Select Reinstall now under Fix problems using Windows Update
Once the process is complete and your system restarts, try switching out of S mode again.
