If the Excel desktop app will not open even though the Microsoft 365 subscription is active, the most common fix is to repair the Office installation.

1. Close all Office apps.
2. Run an Online Repair of Office by following the steps in Repair an Office application.
3. After the repair completes, restart the computer and try opening Excel again.
