An easy-to-use, ad-free, commercial-grade search tool that lets you deliver the results you want.
Bing Search APIs (including Bing Custom Search) are no longer provisioned directly from the old Bing UI/Cognitive Services flow that is giving the “Gallery item is required” error. New instances must be created and billed through the updated Bing Search Services path in Azure.
To get a paid API key now:
- Create or use an Azure subscription that will handle billing.
- Follow the Bing Search Services provisioning process documented at the migration link for new Bing Search resources: see the guidance under “Starting October 30, 2020, any new instances of Bing Search need to be provisioned following the process documented here” and “For migration instructions, see Bing Search Services.”
- When the Bing Search resource is created in Azure, obtain the key from that resource (the key is what is used as the API key in calls to Bing Custom Search).
Existing Bing Search APIs that were originally provisioned via Cognitive Services continue to work under their existing billing until the end of the support window, but new paid keys must come from the new Bing Search Services provisioning path rather than the legacy Bing UI.
