    Hello Caryn Adams,

I understand that you are having billing issue for inaccessible account. I truly understand how you feel. Let me assist you go through this situation.

STEP 1: Identify the charge (important, even without the account)

This helps Microsoft locate the hidden account tied to your card.

    1. Go to Investigate a Microsoft charge: How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft

    Select Investigate

    Enter card number + CVV

    Note:

    • Charge amount
    • Billing name (often MSBILL.INFO or MICROSOFT*SUBSCRIPTION)
    • Date of charge

This tool can reveal subscriptions linked to OTHER Microsoft accounts using your card.

STEP 2: Contact Microsoft Billing WITHOUT the account for better assistance:

Once you’ve tried the steps above, you can also reach out directly to the Microsoft Support team. It may offer live chat and, depending on your subscription/region, an option to request a callback:

    • Go to https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    • Search for "billing" in the search box.
    • Click "Get Help", then scroll to the bottom and select "Contact Support”.
    • When prompted to select Products & Services, select Microsoft 365 and Office> Manage my subscription
    • Look for and select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser". Once connect, explain your situation clearly.

Please note that the chat support team only works during certain working hours. Therefore, if the last window indicates that you are unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave a phone number. That way, they can call you and help you.

Please understand that this is a user‑to‑user support forum. Moderators, contributors, and external Microsoft staff cannot directly intervene in Microsoft product features or access back‑end systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance on reported issues, requests, or ideas. Still, I will do my best to assist you with everything I can.

To refund and check for refund eligible you can refer to this website, follow the steps instruction:

There are two practical options when being billed for a Microsoft 365 subscription tied to an account that cannot be accessed:

    1. Try to recover or identify the Microsoft account
      • If there is any chance to access or recover the account (email, phone, or security info), use the Microsoft account recovery options listed under:
        • Help with the Microsoft account recovery form
        • Help with account sign in verification codes
      • Once signed in, go to Services and subscriptions and either Cancel subscription or Turn off recurring billing.
      • If sign-in is not possible and the account is not clearly yours, Microsoft will treat it as a security/ownership issue and will not cancel it just based on a request.
    2. Stop the charges at the bank/card level
      • If the account truly cannot be accessed or recovered (for example, no credentials, no linked phone, no way to prove ownership), the recommended path is to block or cancel the recurring payment with the card issuer or bank.
      • This is explicitly suggested when the account cannot be accessed or ownership cannot be established.

If the subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, Google Play, Apple App Store, or a retailer), cancellation and refund must be handled through that seller’s support, not directly through Microsoft.

For any refund questions on charges already made, use the Microsoft refund process for subscriptions and, if needed, contact Microsoft Billing Support via the official support channels.
