This usually happens when you’ve previously used a different version of the subscription before the recent purchase, which can cause a mismatch in the license being detected.
If the AI-suggested steps above didn’t fix the issue, the best next step is to completely reinstall Microsoft 365 to refresh the license.
Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
Find Microsoft 365 (or Office) in the list
Right-click it, then select Uninstall and follow the prompts
Restart your computer after the uninstall is complete
Reinstall Microsoft 365:
• Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services
• Sign in with the account that has the active subscription
• Find your Microsoft 365 subscription, then click Install
• Download and run the installer, then follow the on-screen steps
Once installed, open any Office app (like Word) and make sure you’re signed in with the correct account.
