If an exam appointment is missed and was not cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled time, the exam fee or voucher is normally forfeited and refunds are not offered.
Key points from the policies:
- Standard Microsoft exam policy
- Exam appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 24 hours before the scheduled time. Otherwise, the entire exam fee is forfeited. If a company-purchased voucher was used, that voucher is forfeited as well.
- If the appointment is a no-show, there is no refund for the missed exam.
- Details are in the reschedule and cancellation policy: reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before the exam to avoid forfeiting the fee or voucher.
- Offer- or event-based vouchers
- For specific offers (such as event vouchers), terms commonly state that if the candidate fails to show up or cancels/reschedules too close to the exam time (for example, 72 hours or less), the voucher may be forfeited and cannot be used again.
- Vouchers generally cannot be refunded, replaced if lost/expired, or extended beyond their expiration date.
- What to do next
- Check the exam appointment in the Learn profile and see whether any reschedule option is still available:
- Sign in to the Learn profile.
- Go to Profile → Credentials → Certifications.
- Locate the exam appointment and select “Cancel” or “Reschedule” if the links are still available; this will redirect to the exam delivery provider’s site.
- If the voucher came from a special program (for example, an event or promotion), review the specific terms for that voucher to confirm whether a missed appointment forfeits the code.
- If there were exceptional circumstances, submit a ticket through the Microsoft credentials support channel so the dedicated support team can review the case and confirm options based on the account and voucher details.
- Check the exam appointment in the Learn profile and see whether any reschedule option is still available:
Because refunds for missed exams are not part of the standard policy and missed appointments typically forfeit the fee or voucher, only the official support team can review any possible exception.
