"locked" out of my Microsoft Outlook processor on my mobile device! tried everything but cannot get back in, re-booted, deleted Microsoft Outlook, re-downloaded and installed, when I try to access, the following happens:

-user id, enter

-password entEr

-get a message "verify phone number, last 4 digits"

-enter

-get message "verify another way"??? "this method not working right now, try another way", "learn more"

-enter

-get a bunch of, non-sense listed on why codes not returning, etc. "This is totally BS from my standpoint", HOW DO I GET BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT WITH ALL OF THE BALLONY ABOUT, "ARE YOU A ROBOT?" ENTER TYPRD OF FIGURES, THE ORIENTATION OF ANIMALS, ETC., WHY CANNOT WE MAKE THIS EASIER FOR THE CONSUMER, TOTALLY NON-SENSE!!!!

I may be mistaken but from my perspective, Microsoft is making it waaaaaaaaay too difficult in protecting this processor, from what??? I believe that more effort should be made to protect financial information from "hackers" rather than simple email accounts. Please let me know what I need to do to get back into Microsoft Outlook!

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

The error message you received indicates that your account is temporarily blocked due to the system detecting unusual activity.

Kindly perform these steps to fix the verification method error:

    1. Perform a password reset via Incognito/InPrivate window using different devices and network services.
    2. If it doesn't work, wait exactly 48 hours to reset the password.
    3. If the issue persists, kindly wait exactly 1 week to perform another password reset. The idea is to wait for the account lock to expire first before you reset the password, as stated in this article: https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/troubleshooting-verification-code-issues-409090c4-92b5-42b9-8ae6-bcc97e62fc48#:~:text=If%20you%20received%20a%20Microsoft%20verification%20code%20that%20you%20did#:~:text=If%20you%20received%20a%20Microsoft%20verification%20code%20that%20you%20did

Important: Please make sure not to attempt to sign in or reset the password within that timeframe (48 hours or 1 week), as this may reset the lock cooldown.

Thank you for your understanding! Please feel free to let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

To get back into the Outlook.com account on the mobile device, follow these steps in order:

    1. First confirm the account itself is not blocked
      • On a computer or another phone where sign-in still works, go to the Outlook.com account in a browser.
      • If sign-in fails or shows that the account is blocked because of unusual activity, use the official unblock flow here: Sign-in Helper.
      • Follow the prompts to enter a security code and, if requested, change the password.
    2. If the account is locked or repeatedly asking for verification
      • The account may be locked due to suspicious activity or too many failed attempts.
      • Use the guidance in Unblock my Outlook.com account to complete the unblock steps. If security codes are not working or the method is “not available,” use an alternate verification method if shown (different phone, email, or Microsoft Authenticator).
    3. If sign-in options are missing or no “Next” button appears
      • This can indicate the account is locked at the Microsoft account level.
      • Follow the instructions in Microsoft account has been locked:
        • On the sign-in page, select the link that begins with aka.ms/ (shown in the lock message).
        • Fill out the account reinstatement form completely and submit it once.
        • Wait for the email response from Microsoft Online Safety; do not submit multiple forms, as that slows processing.
    4. If security codes are not arriving or are rate-limited
      • There may be a temporary block on sending codes to that phone or method.
      • Use the guidance under I didn't receive a security code:
        • Try a different phone number that can receive SMS (it does not need to be associated with the account; a friend or work phone is acceptable).
        • Ensure the code is entered exactly as shown in the body of the message.
        • If you see “usage limit exceeded,” wait for the lockout period to clear before requesting another code.
    5. After the account is unblocked and working in a browser
      • On the mobile device, remove any existing Outlook.com account configuration from the Outlook app.
      • Reboot the phone.
      • Open Outlook and add the Outlook.com account again, completing the modern sign-in and verification prompts.

If none of the verification methods work and the account recovery / reinstatement form is not accepted, the automated security system is preventing access and support agents cannot manually override it for consumer Outlook.com accounts. In that case, retry the recovery steps only after the indicated lockout period has fully expired, and submit the reinstatement form with as much accurate information as possible.
