I just got a new phone number and need to change it on my account.

I understand how frustrating this can feel, especially when you just need to update a simple detail like your phone number.

Can you currently access or log in to your Microsoft account?

To change your phone number, please sign in to your account security settings and update your contact information under the Security info section. You may be asked to verify your identity during the process to help keep your account secure.

Please make sure you are signed in to the correct account, then go to: https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage

Once there:

• Click “Add a new way to sign in or verify”
• Choose “Email a code” or “Text a code”
• Enter your new email address or phone number
• Enter the verification code you receive
• Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup

Once the new method is added successfully, you can remove the old phone number from the list if needed.
