I am reaching out because my brother’s account was stolen by a hacker, and since then he has completely lost access to everything connected to it. This situation has been extremely difficult for him, especially because his Minecraft account was tied to this email and contained years of progress, worlds, purchases, and personal value.

The only supported way to recover a stolen Microsoft account is through the official Microsoft account recovery and hacked-account process. If the hacker has changed the sign-in email, password, and security information, and the automated recovery tools cannot verify ownership, the account may no longer be recoverable.

Follow these steps as completely as possible:

1. Use the Sign-in Helper for hacked accounts
   • Go to the Sign-in Helper for hacked or compromised accounts: Open the Sign-in Helper for support options or hacked account issues.
   • Enter the original Microsoft account email (the Gmail address that was used before it was stolen).
   • Follow the guided steps. The tool will either show self-service options or offer a way to contact support, depending on the scenario.
2. Follow the hacked/compromised account guide
   • Work through the official guide: How to recover a hacked or compromised Microsoft account.
   • Step 1 (if access to a device used by the hacker exists) is to ensure all devices are clean of malware before changing any passwords.
