Cancelled Clipchamp billing after MS told me Clipchamp is now included in another service. My Clipchamp projects are now gone.

MS suggested I avoid a double billing and cancel Clipchamp at $11 per month because Clipchamp is now included with my One Drive subscription. Now my Clipchamp projects with many many hours of work are missing. Where are they? Can they be recovered?

    Hi, John Baker

This looks more like a Clipchamp storage/migration problem than the cancellation itself. Personal Clipchamp projects are now tied into OneDrive-backed storage, so if that handoff went wrong, projects can look “gone” even though they were not intentionally deleted.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

Check the OneDrive Recycle Bin as well, not just the main files view. That is specifically recommended for missing Clipchamp projects.

If your projects were created before Clipchamp forced the Microsoft sign-in, it is suggested that you open the web version and try linking/merging the older Clipchamp account with the Microsoft login. That can make older projects show up again.

If the project names are there but they will not open properly, clear Clipchamp site data in Edge or Chrome, then reload the project. This can make stuck projects load again, though you may need to relink the original media files afterward.

If nothing comes back, use the Clipchamp support chat inside app.clipchamp.com or the Clipchamp Windows app, that routes you to the Clipchamp team.

Thank you for your patience in reading, I hope this information has been helpful to you.

Cancelling the Clipchamp Premium subscription does not delete Clipchamp projects. The subscription only controls access to premium features and billing; projects are stored either in OneDrive (for the new cloud storage model and for Work/Education accounts) or on local disk if they were archived.

Key points based on the current Clipchamp/OneDrive setup:

    1. Clipchamp projects are now stored in OneDrive for personal accounts
      • Clipchamp is integrated with OneDrive and “projects are automatically saved, to help ensure they are safe, secure, and accessible.”
      • Work or Education subscriptions already store projects in OneDrive and are unchanged.
      • Cancelling the paid Clipchamp plan via the Microsoft account’s Services & Subscriptions page stops future billing but does not state that it removes projects.
    2. Where to look for the projects
      • Sign in to Clipchamp with the same Microsoft account that was used before cancelling the standalone Clipchamp subscription.
      • On the Clipchamp home page, check the project list and the storage indicator (it shows how much OneDrive space is used and which projects are backed up and editable across devices).
      • In OneDrive (same Microsoft account), look for Clipchamp project files and folders. Clipchamp no longer shows folders in its own UI, so project organization must be done directly in OneDrive.
      • If projects were previously archived to local disk instead of OneDrive, they will be on that device and must be uploaded to OneDrive again to edit.
    3. Why projects might appear “missing”
      • If the Clipchamp account was linked to a Microsoft account whose OneDrive entitlement became inactive (for example, the account was only used for Clipchamp and not for other Microsoft 365 apps), Clipchamp may show access errors or missing projects because it requires an active OneDrive to access editing projects.
    4. Recovery and troubleshooting steps
      • Confirm sign-in with the correct Microsoft account (the one that had the paid Clipchamp subscription before cancellation).
      • Verify that OneDrive for that account is active and accessible.
      • If there are access errors or projects appear missing after the move to OneDrive-backed storage, follow the guidance in “Troubleshooting OneDrive-backed Clipchamp editing projects” to resolve issues with accessing or locating projects.
      • If projects were archived locally, upload them from local disk back into OneDrive and then open them in Clipchamp.

If, after checking the correct Microsoft account, OneDrive, and any local archives, the projects still do not appear, support from Clipchamp/Microsoft would be required to investigate the specific account and storage state.
