I recently got a new Windows desktop computer. I reattached all my printers, keyboard, mouse and peripheral webcam. When I launch my own Zoom meetings, the audio no longer works through my webcam. Please help me troubleshoot this.

Thanks.

    Hi Paula,

Does your webcam have a speaker?

    Please supply the following Information.

Right-click the Start button and Choose the Run option

    Type in msinfo32

    Press enter.

Take a screenshot of the System Summary window and post it in the next reply.

Also, screenshot of mmsys.cpl command > Playback tab.

I look forward to your response and am eager to collaborate until we find a solution.

Work through these steps on Windows 11 to restore audio via the PTZ Optics webcam in Zoom:

    1. Confirm Windows detects the webcam as an audio device
      1. Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Look for an entry that corresponds to the PTZ Optics webcam (or any USB audio device from that webcam).
      4. If it is missing or has a warning icon, right-click it and select Uninstall device. If prompted, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device (or Delete the driver software for this device), then select Uninstall.
      5. Restart the PC. Windows will attempt to reinstall the audio device automatically.
      6. If it does not reappear, in Device Manager right-click Sound, video and game controllers and select Scan for hardware changes.
      7. After it shows up, right-click the device and select Update driver.
    2. Verify the microphone is working in Windows
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Under Input, choose the PTZ Optics webcam (or its microphone name) under Choose your input device.
      3. Select Device properties (Windows 10) or select the device and check Input settings (Windows 11).
      4. Adjust Input volume (or Microphone and Microphone Boost on the Levels tab) so it is not muted or too low.
      5. Speak into the webcam mic and check Test your microphone. If the line moves from left to right, Windows is receiving audio. If there is no movement, the mic is not picking up sound—recheck the USB connection and drivers as in step 1.
    3. If Windows is not detecting the webcam audio at all If the PTZ Optics audio device still does not appear under Sound, video and game controllers after the restart and scan:
      1. Repeat the uninstall/reinstall process for any other audio devices that may conflict, following:
        • Right-click Start > Device Manager.
        • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
        • Right-click each audio device, select Uninstall device, check Attempt to remove the driver for this device, and uninstall.
        • Restart the PC so Windows reinstalls audio devices and drivers.
      2. After restart, go back to Device Manager, expand Sound, video and game controllers, and use Update driver on the webcam audio device.
    4. Select the webcam microphone in Zoom Once Windows shows the webcam mic working (step 2 test bar moves):
      1. Open Zoom.
      2. In a meeting, click the arrow next to the microphone icon.
      3. Under Select a Microphone, choose the PTZ Optics webcam (or its audio name) instead of any other device.
      4. Use Zoom’s Test Mic option to confirm audio.

If the microphone test in Windows fails (no movement in Test your microphone) even after reinstalling drivers, the issue is likely with the webcam hardware or its specific driver from the manufacturer, and using a different microphone or contacting the webcam vendor for updated drivers would be the next step.
