Your approach is correct and supported, just make sure you sign in once with another admin account first, then rename your profile folder in C:\Users, delete your profile key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList that matches your SID, restart the PC, and sign in again with your same email, Windows will create a fresh profile automatically and reconnect your account, then open PowerPoint and sign in again if prompted, this rebuilds your user profile and resolves app level issues like Copilot not reading slide content.

You can reuse the same email on a new profile by first creating a temporary local admin account, then sign out and sign in with that account, go to Settings, Accounts, Other users, add a new user and choose “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information” then “Add a user without a Microsoft account,” make it admin, sign in to that new account, then go back to Settings and connect it to your existing email under Your info, Sign in with a Microsoft account instead, after that you can remove the old corrupted profile from Settings, Accounts, Other users and delete its folder from C:\Users which will give you a clean profile using the same credentials.
