good morning. How can I download/purchase a safe version of movie maker 2012? There is no software that works as efficiently for quick picture slideshows

Windows Movie Maker 2012 was included in Windows Essentials 2012, which reached end of support on January 10, 2017 and is no longer available from Microsoft for download or purchase.

Even though Movie Maker 2012 is discontinued, you can still create fast photo slideshows using built-in or official Microsoft tools, depending on your Windows version:

On Windows 10, Microsoft provides basic video/slideshow creation through the Photos app (Video Editor).
On Windows 11, Microsoft’s primary first‑party video editor is Microsoft Clipchamp.

Windows Movie Maker 2012 was part of the Windows Essentials 2012 suite, which reached end of support on January 10, 2017. It is no longer supported on Windows 10 and is no longer available for download or purchase from Microsoft.

Already installed copies can continue to work as they do today, but Microsoft does not provide a safe, sanctioned download of Movie Maker 2012 anymore. Any third‑party websites offering “free” or “legacy” Movie Maker downloads are not official Microsoft sources and may include malware or hidden costs. To stay protected, only download apps from trusted sources such as Microsoft Store and keep security software like Windows Defender Security Center enabled.

For slideshow and video-editing needs, use alternative photo and video apps available through Microsoft Store.
