    Hello Xzavier,

Thank you for posting your question here.

This usually means someone added their own backup email or replaced your primary email, which strongly suggests the account was compromised even if your password stayed the same.

Here's a form you can fill out that will go to a team specially equipped to handle scenarios like this. Please fill out this form https://aka.ms/recovermyaccount you should get an email response within 4 hours the latest. The team on the other end will help work through the issue with you. Also, may I know if you already use this link for account recovery request or a different site.

Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answers" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thank you and I appreciate your effort.

    Best Regards,

    Ian Patrick B.

The behavior described matches a hacked/compromised Microsoft account where the attacker has changed or added security info (alternate email/phone). When that happens and the recovery form cannot verify ownership, only the automated recovery process can restore access; support agents cannot override it or send codes.

For this situation, only the documented options are available:

    1. Use the official account recovery flow repeatedly
      • Go to the Microsoft account recovery page (ACSR) and submit the form with as much accurate information as possible (old passwords, contacts, subject lines, etc.).
      • If the form response says the information cannot verify ownership, update the details and try again later from a familiar device and location.
      • If the attacker has fully replaced the security info and the form still cannot verify ownership after multiple attempts, the account is treated as unrecoverable.
    2. Understand limits on support and verification codes
      • When the security info (email/phone) shown at sign-in is not recognized, the guidance is to confirm the account name and domain and, if still correct, proceed to account recovery.
      • Support agents are not allowed to change security info, send verification codes, or bypass the automated checks for consumer Microsoft accounts.
    3. BitLocker recovery key dependency
      • If the BitLocker recovery key is stored only in that Microsoft account and the account cannot be recovered by the automated process, there is no supported way to retrieve that key.
      • Without a valid BitLocker recovery key (or another saved copy, such as printout, USB, or Azure AD/Entra ID for work/school devices), the encrypted drive cannot be unlocked.
    4. Next steps
      • Continue using the official recovery form and sign-in helper until either the account is recovered or the system definitively denies recovery.
      • If recovery ultimately fails and no other copy of the BitLocker key exists, the only remaining option for the PC is to erase/reinstall Windows on the encrypted drive, which permanently removes the encrypted data.
