This was my mistake: I should have specified the problem happens in PowerPoint: Edit Picture / Enhance / Upscale.
Edit Picture / Enhance / Upscale
I was in the middle of using the new(ish) AI picture editing functions when I got the message "Something's wrong on our end. Try again later"
I know this happens occasionally and, despite what the message says, it can sometimes be a problem on the user's end. I've done thorough troubleshooting and found nothing, while tech support says there are no other complaints. But I suspect that's wrong. Anyone out there found the same thing? And more important, can someone from Microsoft respond to this? I've tried three times with tech support and gotten nowhere.

Learn moreThe AI image editing features in Microsoft Photos and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app depend on different back-end conditions, so troubleshooting depends on which feature is in use.
For Microsoft Photos “Super resolution” on Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs:
- Confirm the feature being used is Super resolution (Edit → Super resolution in the Photos app).
- Verify device requirements:
- Device must be a Copilot+ PC.
- Windows 11 must be installed.
- Only still images are supported (not videos or GIFs).
- If the error persists after confirming the above, use the in-app feedback channel so the issue is logged directly with the product team:
- In Photos, select Settings → Send feedback and describe the “Something’s wrong on our end. Try again later” error and what operation was being performed.
For AI image editing via the Microsoft 365 Copilot app:
- Ensure an eligible Microsoft 365 subscription is active (Personal, Family, or Premium) because Copilot image features require such a subscription and may have usage limits.
- If the feature previously worked and suddenly stopped with “Something’s wrong on our end,” wait and retry later in case of transient service issues, then:
- Sign out and sign back in to the Microsoft 365 account.
- Confirm the subscription is still valid.
- If the problem continues, contact Microsoft 365 support through the Microsoft 365 support channel and reference that the issue occurs when editing an image with the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.
If all prerequisites are met and the error continues across multiple sessions, the most direct way to reach the responsible engineering/support teams is:
- For Photos Super resolution: use Settings → Send feedback in Photos so logs and scenario details are attached.
- For Microsoft 365 Copilot image editing: open a support request from the Microsoft 365 account portal so the case is tracked and escalated.
