Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To cancel a personal/home Microsoft 365 subscription (separate from what work installed), cancel it from the Microsoft account that is being billed.
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the subscription.
- Under Services & subscriptions, find the Microsoft 365 subscription to cancel.
- Select Manage.
- If instead of Manage there is Turn on recurring billing, the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not renew; no further action is needed.
- On the next page, select Cancel or Cancel subscription (it might appear as Upgrade or Cancel).
- Follow the on-screen steps and confirm cancellation.
After cancellation:
- The subscription remains usable until the end of the current billing period.
- For Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium, storage reverts to 5 GB of cloud storage (shared by OneDrive and Outlook.com attachments) and 15 GB of Outlook.com mailbox storage. If usage is above the free allowance, new OneDrive uploads/syncs and Outlook.com send/receive will stop, and OneDrive content may later be deleted if over quota.
If the subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, an app store or retailer), cancellation must be done through that provider’s billing/support channel as described in the documentation.
The Microsoft 365 apps that work installed on the desktop will continue to function under the work (organization) license; canceling the personal subscription only affects the personal account’s subscription and storage.
