Hi,

I had two laptops connected to my phone through the phone link app. One personal and one my org laptop. In my phone it is giving me an option to remove the personal laptop but not the org one. I no longer have access to the laptop and have already logged out of the Microsoft account in that laptop.

  1. I have tried resetting the app on my android. Once I log back with the account, it brings the laptop back in the list of devices.
  2. I browsed through the Microsoft account setting but couldn't find the org laptop anywhere.

How do I remove it from the list of devices on my phone? It is now just a ghost device in my 'Linked PCs' list.

    Hi Mudit Banyal

I understand how frustrating this is.

What you’re seeing is a limitation by design. The org (work) laptop was linked using a work/Entra ID account, and those devices cannot be fully removed from the Link to Windows app on Android unless the device is removed from the PC side or by the organization. That’s why:

    • It doesn’t appear in your personal Microsoft account device list
    • Resetting the app or signing back in brings the device back
    • Only the personal laptop shows a Remove option

Once you no longer have access to the PC, the only way to permanently remove that entry is to have your IT admin remove or retire the device in Entra ID / Intune. Until then, the device remains as a disconnected, cosmetic “ghost” entry and cannot reconnect or access data.

If IT removal isn’t possible, the entry can safely be ignored, there is currently no supported self‑service way to delete an org-linked PC from the Android app.

    Hope this clarifies things.
