I took the AZ-900 exam and was, without warning, thrown out of the exam about half way through due to a "exam session was revoked due to a policy violation." message - I want to know why, what it was I was supposed to have done wrong and the evidence to back that up?

Exam delivery partners and Microsoft do not provide detailed evidence or a per-incident explanation directly to candidates when an exam session is revoked, but there is a defined process and relevant policies:

    1. Policy basis for revoking an exam session
      • Microsoft can revoke an exam session and/or scores if it believes any exam rule, policy, or the Microsoft Certification Exam Candidate Agreement has been violated, or if there is any misconduct that could compromise exam security or integrity.
      • Examples of misconduct include (but are not limited to) using AI assistance, using unauthorized materials or devices, providing/receiving improper assistance, or any behavior that compromises exam confidentiality or security.
      • If such misconduct is determined, Microsoft may revoke scores and credentials and may ban a candidate from the program.
    2. What information is shared about what went wrong
      • Microsoft explicitly protects the confidentiality and security of its exams and does not disclose detailed question-level or security-system-level information.
      • The public policies describe categories of violations and examples, but not the internal evidence or detection methods used in a specific case.
    3. How to challenge or appeal
      • If the revocation leads to a ban or other sanction, there is a formal appeal process. Candidates may appeal a ban by submitting an appeal within 14 calendar days of receiving notice from Microsoft.
      • The Microsoft Worldwide Learning Security Team reviews appeal requests, investigates the case, and communicates the conclusion and final decision directly to the candidate.
      • For bans related to falsified score reports, the original report must be mailed as specified in the policy.
    4. Practical next steps
      • Review the Microsoft Certification Exam Candidate Agreement and the exam and assessment lab security policies to understand the rules that govern behavior during the exam.
      • If a ban or revocation notice was received (email or portal notification), use the candidate appeal process described in the policy and submit an appeal within the 14‑day window, providing any context or information that may help the investigation.

The exact internal evidence (such as proctor observations, system flags, or statistical analysis) is not exposed publicly; the only way to have the case reviewed is through the formal appeal process managed by the Microsoft Worldwide Learning Security Team.
