I have tried it all but can't seem to delete the extra blank pages that have accumulated at the end of my document. Can anyone help?

    Hi @Y'Londa Jackson

Regarding that you can't delete the extra blank pages at the end of your document.  To better understand your situation and assist you more effectively, could you please help clarify the following:

    • Which version of Microsoft Word are you using (Windows, Mac, or Word Online)?
    • Do the blank pages appear after a table, image, or section break?
    • Have you tried turning on formatting marks (¶) to see if there are extra paragraph marks or page breaks? User's image If possible, could you turn on formatting marks (¶) and share a screenshot of what appears on the blank pages? (Feel free to hide or blur any sensitive information.)
    • Does this issue occur only at the very end of the document, or between sections as well?
    • Does this happen with one specific file, or does it occur in other Word documents as well?

Thank you again for your time and understanding. While my initial response may not resolve the issue immediately, I’d like to gather more details about your situation so I can assist you more effectively.

I really appreciate your patience, and I’m here to help. Looking forward to your response.

In Word for the web, extra blank pages at the end are usually caused by empty paragraphs or manual page breaks.

Use these steps in Word for the web:

    1. Open the document and choose Edit Document > Edit in Word for the web.
    2. Look at the end of the document for:
      • Empty paragraphs (they appear as blank lines), and
      • Page breaks.
    3. Select each blank line at the end of the document and press Delete until the extra pages disappear.
    4. Click any visible page break at the end and press Delete.

If the blank pages are caused by section breaks, those cannot be modified in Word for the web. In that case:

    1. In Word for the web, use Open in Word to open the same document in the desktop Word app.
    2. Turn on paragraph marks with Ctrl+Shift+8 so that page and section breaks are visible.
    3. At the end of the document, delete any extra empty paragraphs and manual page breaks.
    4. If there is a section break that is creating a blank page at the end, place the cursor directly before the section break and press Delete.

If there are blank pages in the middle of the document caused by section breaks that must be kept for formatting, change the section break type instead of deleting it:

    1. Double-click the section break.
    2. On the Layout tab, select Breaks and choose Continuous.

This prevents Word from forcing a new (blank) page while preserving section formatting.
