If your drive is encrypted with Bitlocker, Microsoft support do not have access to the Bitlocker Recovery Key, the only place the Bitlocker Recovery key is automatically stored is on the associated Microsoft account on the link below, be sure to check any Microsoft account that may have been used on the PC and also any work or school account that may be linked to the PC.

Are you able to find the Bitlocker Recovery Key on any account that may have been used or linked to the laptop?

If not, do you have a safe backup of your files, or use a cloud service like OneDrive to sync your files online.

Phone-based BitLocker recovery assistance is not available directly through this channel. For live help from Microsoft Support, contact support only through official Microsoft channels and never through unsolicited numbers or pop-ups.

To reach a Microsoft support agent for BitLocker and Windows at home:

    1. Go to the Microsoft Support site and navigate to Windows help.
    2. Use the “Get Help” or “Contact support” options to start a chat or request a call back from an official agent.
    3. If prompted, choose topics related to Windows, then BitLocker or recovery/backup.

If a message, website, or caller provided a phone number and claimed to be Microsoft, treat it as a potential scam. Microsoft will not cold-call or display random phone numbers in pop-ups to fix BitLocker or security issues. If a scam is suspected, close the page or app and contact Microsoft only via the official support site.

For self-service BitLocker recovery while waiting for support, see the official guidance on where to find the recovery key (Microsoft account, work/school account, printout, or USB) and what to do if the key cannot be found.
