How can I get rid of the Personal Vault Synchronization Error?

Hey in the last months I've been facin this issue every time, I booted.
The problem: OneDrive won't sync if I won't unlock my personal vault. Even though it's empty and the internet tells me it could be disabled via the website - it can't! :-(
I also already had weeks where even the unlocking of the vault didn't fix it, causing an endless loop of unlocking it with by auth. (now it does again)
Honestly, I do not need it - so please help me remove it.

OneDrive Personal Vault cannot be removed from a Microsoft account, but the sync issues and repeated unlock prompts can be stopped by getting the vault fully up to date and then letting it stay locked.

To clear the “Personal Vault isn’t up to date”/sync dependency and stop the loop:

    1. Unlock Personal Vault on the affected device.
    2. Close any files that are stored in Personal Vault so none are in use.
    3. Wait for OneDrive sync to fully complete. Watch the OneDrive icon and wait until the sync icon disappears and shows as up to date.
    4. When sync is complete, lock Personal Vault again.
    5. After this, leave Personal Vault locked during normal use; OneDrive should continue syncing the rest of the OneDrive content without requiring Personal Vault to be unlocked, as long as there are no pending changes inside the vault.

If the sync problem persists even when the vault is empty, clear cached OneDrive credentials so the client can refresh its configuration:

    • On Windows:
      1. Press Windows key + R.
      2. Enter %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive\settings and select OK.
      3. Delete the PreSignInSettingsConfig.json file.
      4. Restart OneDrive and sign in again.

This forces OneDrive to refresh its sign-in and sync configuration, which can resolve persistent account- or vault-related sync glitches.

If the issue still continues after these steps, use the OneDrive support options in the documentation to contact Microsoft Support, as the vault feature itself cannot be disabled or deleted from the account.
