New Excel windows open a little lower

Is there a way to get new Excel windows to open at the top of the screen, like every other app? I have to go looking for them, drag them to the top, and that weird (and unhelpful) window positioning tool pops out of the top of the screen to confound my efforts. That "tool" would be another great thing to turn off.

    Hi @Guthrie, James,

Please notify me if I have misunderstood anything about your situation. Based on your sharing, when you mentioned that "New Excel window open lower", does that mean Excel open in window mode, not full-screen mode and then you have to drag it to the top to have full-screen? If that's the case, you can force Excel to always open maximized by:

    • In Windows Search bar, type Excel and then right click the Excel icon > Open file location
    • Then right click the Excel shortcut > Properties > go to Shortcut tab > set Run to Maximized > OK to save changes

About the weird window positioning tools pops out, I suspect that is the Windows 11 Snap Layouts. You can try disabling that annoying Snap popup by going to Settings > Systems > Multitasking > Snap Windows > uncheck "Show snap layouts when I drag..."

Please understand that my initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, you can try these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to find a solution.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I'm looking forward to your reply.
