Built in Camera has disappeared ?

I've been trying to use the camera for a zoom meeting and it has disappeared. There's nothing to be found in device manager so I can't update drivers or anything. Going round in circles here.

Asus Vivobook Error code: 0xA00F4244 No Camera's are attached .....

I mean, it's built in, so it hasn't been physically removed or anything ?

Any help would be great, thanks

Look at the function keys (F1 - F12) on your keyboard, if one of them has a camera icon, press that key or Fn + that key to unlock the webcam.

    2

If that was not the problem, look at the camera lens above your screen, is there a small privacy slider that needs to be opened to access the webcam?

    3

If the webcam is still not working, go to the support page for your laptop on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and re-install the version of webcam drivers they provide

If you have any difficulty locating that support page, click your Start Button, then just type msinfo and press Enter, please provide a screenshot of the resulting System Information window.

For error 0xA00F4244 on a built‑in camera that no longer appears in Device Manager, use these steps in order:

    1. Run the Windows camera troubleshooter
      • Open the Get Help app and run the Windows Camera troubleshooter. It will automatically diagnose and attempt to fix common camera issues.
    2. Check hardware and physical camera controls
      • On some Asus laptops, a function key (for example Fn + a key with a camera icon, often F4) can disable the camera. Press that key (or Fn + that key) once to toggle the camera on.
      • Check for a physical camera shutter or slider near the webcam and make sure it is open.
    3. Confirm the camera is detected and enabled in Device Manager
      • Select Start and type Device Manager, then open it.
      • Look under Cameras, Imaging devices, or Sound, video and game controllers for the built‑in camera.
      • If the camera is present but disabled, right‑click it and choose Enable device.
      • If the camera is missing:
        1. In Device Manager, select the Action menu.
        2. Choose Scan for hardware changes.
        3. Wait for Windows to detect and reinstall the camera driver, then restart the PC and test the Camera app again.
    4. Update or repair the camera driver
      • Use Windows Update to check for updated hardware drivers for the camera: Windows Update can automatically install recommended and updated drivers.
      • If the camera appears after scanning for hardware changes but still fails:
        • In Device Manager, right‑click the camera → PropertiesDriver tab.
          • If available, select Roll Back Driver (useful if the issue started after an update), then restart and test.
          • If that does not help, on the Driver tab select Uninstall Device (check Attempt to remove the driver for this device), then in the Action menu select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver and restart the PC.
    5. Check privacy settings for camera access
      • Open SettingsPrivacy & securityCamera.
      • Make sure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are turned on.
      • For apps not from Microsoft Store (Zoom, browsers, Teams, etc.), ensure Let desktop apps access your camera is turned on.
    6. If the camera still does not appear
      • If the built‑in camera still does not show in Device Manager after scanning for hardware changes and checking function keys/shutters, this typically indicates a hardware or firmware issue. In that case, use the Asus support site for your exact Vivobook model to download the OEM camera driver, or contact Asus support for hardware diagnostics.
