Changing the date of birth depends on whether the Microsoft account is treated as an adult or a child account.
- If it is an adult account
- Go to the Microsoft account profile page and sign in with the account that needs to be updated: Sign in.
- Edit the profile information, change the birthdate, and select Save.
- If the account shows “Parent or guardian consent is required for this account”
- Sign in at https://login.live.com to start a consent request: Sign in.
- Select I'm a parent or guardian.
- Sign in with an adult personal Microsoft account (or create a new adult account).
- Give consent by selecting Yes, I agree on the consent form.
- Select Family Safety to complete.
- Go to account.live.com/mykids.aspx.
- For the affected account, select Edit this child's personal info and follow the instructions to correct the birthdate.
- If it is already a child account in a family group
- Using the adult Microsoft account that gave consent, go to https://account.live.com/mykids.aspx: Sign in.
- Select Edit this child's personal info and follow the instructions.
- If the child is not listed, another adult in the family may have the permissions.
Note: A child cannot change their own date of birth if the listed age is below the statutory age in that country or region; an adult account holder must do it. In some cases (for example, when the account is a child account and the goal is to make it an adult to bypass restrictions), the date of birth cannot be changed and the account must reach adult age before restrictions are lifted.
