Unfamiliar Org appears in my Accounts and Orgs - How do I delete it?

If an unfamiliar organization appears under Accounts and orgs in Microsoft Teams or in the My Account portal, it can be left (removed) as long as it is not the Home organization.

For Microsoft Teams Free:

1. Open Microsoft Teams (desktop or web).
2. Go to Settings.
3. Select Accounts and orgs.
4. Under Accounts and orgs, find the unfamiliar organization.
5. Select Leave next to that organization. This opens Teams on the web.
6. Under Organizations, find the same organization and select Leave again.
7. Confirm by selecting Leave.

It can take a few hours for the change to propagate. After that, sign out of Teams and sign back in; the organization should no longer appear. If it still appears, sign out and back in again after a couple of hours.

For work or school accounts in the My Account portal:

1. Go to the Organizations page for the work or school account.
2. Next to the unfamiliar organization (that is not marked as the Home organization), select Leave organization.
3. In the new browser tab, select Leave to confirm. This deletes data associated with that organization for that account.
4. A confirmation message appears and a notification email is sent.

Important:

• The Home organization cannot be left this way.
• Leaving an organization cannot be undone; an admin must re-invite the account if access is needed again.

If the organization is still visible after leaving, or if it is the Home organization and cannot be left, contact the organization’s administrator or Microsoft support for further assistance.
