Upgrade Hyper-V host Server 2019 Essentials to Standard

Hi, i got a new customer with a host server with 2019 essential and 2 hyper-v machines both with the same 2019 essential. I know that essential license should have only one virtual machine and i am about to update the host to 2019 standard. Should i update to standard the virtual machines too?

    Hi there,

    Yes, you must update it . You can't use Essentials to license a second VM. You would need an additional Standard license.

    Yes, if the guests run the same OS as host you can use the same host activation.
