thx for join us at Q&A platform )))) yeah this is normal, grant ≠ auto-applied to existing subscription.
what happened u renewed grant > got credits but ur old subscription already switched to PAYG > so it keeps billing
Azure doesnt auto move subscriptions back to grant
create a new subscription under the grant (most common fix) or check if ur current subscription is even eligible to attach credits (often its not).
in portal go to Cost Management > check if credits are being applied if not > ur sub is not linked to the grant
important gotcha grants usually create/use separate subscription tied to “Azure Sponsorship” or similar
so u might now have something like
- old PAYG subscription (billing u)
- new grant subscription (with USD2000 sitting unused)
real fix tbh just spin new resources under the grant subscription and stop using old one
if u really need to reuse old subscription > support has to re-link it ( but be ready it could be painful and slow, sorry for that)
