Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.
To disable or change the behavior of the F1-F12 keys, you usually have to look at whether the keyboard is currently in Media Mode (where keys control volume/brightness) or Function Mode (where keys act as standard F1-F12).
Most modern keyboards have an Fn key. Look for a key with a small padlock icon or a "Fn" label (often the Esc key, Caps Lock, or Insert).
- Press "Fn + [Key with Padlock]".
This toggles the default state. If F3 was lowering the volume, it should now act as a standard F3 in your games.
If there is no physical toggle, the setting is likely changed on the system firmware (BIOS). If that's the case, please tell me the manufacturer and model of the device so I can check if I can find the correct instructions for you.
Alternatively (if you are using a laptop):
- Search for "Windows Mobility Center" in the Start menu.
- Look for a section called "Function Key Row".
- If available, change the drop-down menu to "Function key".
Note: This option is provided by certain manufacturers like Dell and HP and may not appear on all devices.
If you are using a gaming laptop or a dedicated gaming keyboard (like Razer, Corsair, or Logitech), the keys are often controlled by their software (e.g., Synapse or G Hub).
- Open the software and look for Keyboard Settings.
- Look for an option to "Switch Function Key Row" or disable "Easy Shortcuts."
Feel free to ask any questions you may have.
