To change the legal name used for Microsoft Certification exams, the name must be updated in the Microsoft Learn profile and, if required, reviewed by the Credentials Support team.
Since an in-product message is already indicating that further review is required and directing to Credential Support, follow these steps:
- Sign in to the Microsoft Learn profile that is used for certification.
- Go to Settings in the Learn profile.
- Confirm that the Legal Name field matches the name on the government-issued ID (Driver’s License). This legal name is what is used for identity verification during exams.
- Because the system is asking for additional review and to contact Credential Support, submit a support request to the Credentials Support team:
- Go to Credentials Support: https://www.aka.ms/credentialssupport
- File a ticket explaining that the legal name must be updated to match the Driver’s License for an upcoming exam and that the profile shows the “needs further review/contact credential support” message.
- Wait for the Credentials Support team to complete the review and confirm the update. Support approval is required once an exam is already scheduled or registered.
Do not attempt to book or sit the exam until the legal name in the Learn profile exactly matches the government-issued ID, as mismatches can prevent exam admission.
