Blocking junk email does not work

Microsoft reps are not getting the point from many Microsoft customers. Junk mail comes in. That message is BLOCKED with the little thing on the upper right. And the messages that have been blocked keep coming over and over again. I block them all.. But what is Microsoft doing to actually block junk email? It seems like nothing. And the reps response is to give people instructions on topics that are not relevant. Why can't Microsoft fix this? Very annoying

There is a Help feature in Outlook for Android with which you can send Microsoft feedback about what you'd like to see. Who knows? They may take it to heart. The problem I see with it, though, is if you get what you request, you run a 100% of not receiving mail that may have been falsely labeled as junk. If that were to have been delivered to the Junk Email folder, you would have found it and would have been able to mark it as not junk. For me, I find it better to get junk and not miss the false positives than to take the chance of missing something I would find worthwhile because the mail service wouldn't deliver it.

"Outlook for Email" doesn't address my questions. And I'm sorry that you think my response doesn't address your issue, but it's still true nonetheless. Blocking does not stop the messages. It only routes them to Junk Email if you are using a Microsoft mailbox. It's the way it's designed, whether we like it or not.

Hi. I'm Brian and I"ll try to help.

Who is your mail provider? Are you using an address that ends in @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, @msn.com, @live.com or one of the country-specific versions of those domains? If so, your mailbox is working as designed. For a Microsoft-hosted mailbox, "blocked" means the same as "delivered to the Junk Email folder." In other words, blocking does not prevent the delivery of messages from the sender, it just sends them to the Junk Email folder because you've designated them as junk. If you block a sender whose messages were already being delivered to Junk Email, you're wasting a blocked sender list entry because it cannot add any additional functionality. You also can't use a rule on messages delivered to the Junk Email folder because rules operate only on messages delivered to the Inbox. That's just the way a Microsoft mailbox works.
