Word 2013 / Windows Server 2016 / RDP -> Cursor is not blinking

Hello Everybody,

I am moving users from Windows Server 2008R2 with Word 2010 to Windows Server 2016 with Word 2013 in a remote desktop environment.

Problem: Cursor in Word is not blinking anymore. The cursor blinking is activated and I can see it in the system settings.

Chrome -> Blinking
Notepad -> Not blinking
Word -> Not blinking

Can anyone tell me what to do, that the cursor is blinking in Winword?

Thanks a lot.

Hi @ThomasBr-9145,
Welcome to Q&A forum!

According to your description, do other Office apps have this issue? Such as Excel and PowerPoint.
Please update your Office to the latest version first.
I also suggest that you switch between the various view options and then back to Print Layout to check this issue.

If the above does not work, please try to repair your Office to check again.

Update:

Please run the follwoing command in Command Prompt (run as administrator) on the host to have a check.
REG ADD "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server" /v "CursorBlinkEnable" /t REG_SZ /d 1

Any updates, please let me know.

Hi - thank you. But even with Office 2016 you´ll see no blinking cursor within RDP-Sessions.
