    Hi Jen Farmer,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Based on your description, this behavior can sometimes occur after a recent Windows 11 update where the system continues to detect the Logitech BRIO microphone, but the audio input fails to initialize correctly. This may result in the microphone test flashing without capturing sound or preventing the device from being removed or re‑added in Sound settings.

You can try the following steps to refresh the microphone driver and restore functionality:

    Reinstall the BRIO microphone driver

    • Press Windows key + X > Select Device Manager
    • Click View > Enable Show hidden devices
    • Expand the following sections and uninstall any Logitech BRIO entries:
      • Audio inputs and outputs
      • Sound, video and game controllers
      • Cameras
    • For each BRIO‑related device:
      • Right‑click > Uninstall device
      • Check Attempt to remove the driver for this device (if available)
    • Restart your PC after uninstalling.

After restart, plug the BRIO into a different USB port to allow Windows to reinstall a fresh audio driver automatically.

Updates may require these permissions to be re‑enabled for apps to detect and use your microphone correctly.

    • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone
    • Ensure the following are turned On:
      • Microphone access
      • Let apps access your microphone
      • Let desktop apps access your microphone

If the issue continues, updating the BRIO firmware using Logitech software such as Logi Tune may also help ensure the microphone is properly recognized by Windows 11.

    Hi,

Is this an external USB microphone or the internal one from a laptop?

    Thanks

Try these steps in order on Windows 11 to fix the microphone after the update:

    1. Check app permissions for the microphone
      1. Select Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
      2. Turn Microphone access On.
      3. Turn Let apps access your microphone On and enable it for the apps that need the mic.
      4. If using desktop apps, make sure Let desktop apps access your microphone is On.
    2. Verify the correct input device and test
      1. Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Under Input, select the correct microphone as the input device.
      3. Use the built‑in Test your microphone / Start test option and speak normally to see if input is detected.
    3. Reinstall audio drivers if the mic is not detected or is flashing
      1. Right‑click the Start button and select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. For each audio device related to the microphone, right‑click and select Uninstall device.
      4. Check Delete the driver software for this device (or Attempt to remove the driver for this device) if available, then select Uninstall.
      5. Restart the PC. Windows will attempt to reinstall audio devices and drivers automatically.
      6. If they do not reinstall, open Device Manager again, right‑click Sound, video and game controllers, and select Scan for hardware changes.
      7. After devices reappear, right‑click the audio driver and select Update driver.
    4. If the microphone is detected but very low or seems not to work
      1. Go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Under Input, select the microphone.
      3. In the microphone properties, increase the Input volume slider and run the test again.

If the issue started exactly after a Windows 11 update and persists after these steps, also ensure Windows Update is fully completed (install any pending updates and restart), as later fixes may address driver or audio stack issues.
