uninstalling WPS

WPS is not allowing me to uninstall from my system and it is annoying for each PDF or OFFICE document opening time.

If the WPS Office installer doesn't appear, reinstall it and restart your PC.

Alternatively, download the portable version of Revo Uninstaller (it's free). When you open it, wait for it to load the list of programs, select WPS Office, and uninstall it. Wait for the uninstaller to open.

After uninstalling, click "Scan" in Revo Uninstaller and wait for the process to finish. Then click "Select all and delete," and repeat the same procedure, selecting all and deleting.

Open the command prompt (admin) and run the commands: sfc /scannow and dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth. Wait for the process to finish and restart your computer.

WPS Office is a third‑party program, so it must be removed like any other installed app in Windows.

Use one of these approaches:

1. Uninstall WPS from Windows Settings (Windows 10/11)
   1. Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings.
   2. Go to Apps.
   3. Select Installed apps (or Apps & features).
   4. Find WPS Office in the list.
   5. Select it, choose Uninstall, and follow the prompts.
2. Uninstall WPS from Control Panel (all supported Windows versions)
   1. Open Control Panel (for example, press Windows key, type Control Panel, and press Enter).
   2. Go to Programs and Features (or Uninstall a program under Programs).
   3. Locate WPS Office in the list.
   4. Select it and choose Uninstall.
3. If WPS still won’t uninstall
   1. Restart the PC and try the uninstall again from Settings or Control Panel.
   2. If WPS does not appear in the list, or the uninstaller fails, use the vendor’s dedicated removal tool if available on the WPS support site.
   3. After removal, restart the PC.
4. Restore Office as default for PDF and Office files After WPS is removed (or even before, if it’s still installed):
   1. Right‑click a .docx file → Open with → Choose another app → select Word → check Always use this app to open .docx files → OK.
   2. Repeat for .xlsx with Excel, .pptx with PowerPoint, and .pdf with Microsoft Edge or another preferred PDF viewer.

If WPS does not appear in any uninstall list and there is no vendor tool, the remaining option is to leave it installed but change all file associations as in step 4 so that PDFs and Office documents always open in Microsoft apps instead of WPS.
