    Dear @Hunter N. Calpito,

At the moment, because you are signed in as an end user, you will not be able to create or assign Microsoft 365 admin roles by yourself. You will need to contact your IT Administrator (or the person who manages Microsoft 365 in your organization) and ask them to assign the appropriate admin role to your account.

For your reference, Microsoft notes that the person who originally signed up for and purchased the Microsoft 365 for business subscription is the Global Administrator by default and can assign admin roles to other users.

Your IT Admin can assign an admin role by following these steps in the Microsoft 365 admin center:

Go to Microsoft 365 admin center > Users > Active users > choose your account > Manage roles

Choose the needed admin role (for full control, Global Administrator) > Save changes. Assign admin roles in the Microsoft 365 admin center - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

If you are not sure who your Microsoft 365 admin is, here is an article show how to identify the right contact within your organization: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

In addition, if you need an admin account for a test environment, please try to create a new tenant with trial subscription:

Sign up for a free trial (new tenant with trial subscription) of Microsoft 365 at this link: Compare All Microsoft 365 Plans | Microsoft. The goal is to create a temporary tenant with a Global Administrator account so that you can sign in to the Microsoft Admin Center. Once connected, you can have all the permissions as a Global Admin.

Note: Please remember to cancel the trial subscription before the due date to avoid unwanted charges.

I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. If not, we can continue working together to narrow this down.

The first response may not always resolve the issue right away, but with your help and more details, we can work toward a solution.

As a moderator, I do not have the tools to investigate your specific account directly because this is a user-to-user support forum. Our role is limited to providing technical support on reported issues, requests, or ideas. However, I will try my best to support as clearly as possible.

To create a new admin account for a Microsoft 365 business subscription, first create a standard user account, then assign it an admin role.

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with an existing admin account.
    2. Add a new user and assign the appropriate Microsoft 365 license if this will be a regular working account. For step-by-step user creation, see “Add users and assign licenses at the same time.”
    3. After the user is created, assign an admin role:
      • In the admin center, open the new user’s details.
      • Go to the roles section.
      • Assign the least-privileged role that fits the task (for example, avoid Global Administrator unless absolutely necessary). For role descriptions, see “About admin roles in the Microsoft 365 admin center.”
    4. Use a naming convention that does not reveal admin status (for example, use a shortened variant of the normal username) and keep the number of admin accounts small.
    5. Configure strong sign-in security for the new admin account, preferably passwordless methods such as Microsoft Authenticator, FIDO2 passkeys, or Windows Hello for Business.
    6. Use this new admin account only for administrative tasks; use a separate, non-admin account for day-to-day work.

If no admin account is currently available (for example, the only admin is locked out), an internal admin takeover or assistance from Microsoft support/Data Protection may be required before a new admin can be created.
