Why can't I pin Windows Update to the start menu on my new HP laptop?

    This is actually by design in newer versions of Windows (especially Windows 11), not something wrong with your HP laptop, because Windows Update is not a standalone app.

    If this helps, you can create a desktop shortcut instead, to help quickly access it.

    To do so, right click on any area on the desktop, new > shortcut, then put in this command: 

    ms-settings:windowsupdate

    Then next, name it "Windows Updates".
