    Try this:

Open Device Manager, and make sure you've audio drivers installed and properly working.

If no audio driver is listed, you can visit your device manufacturer's website to download and install audio drivers for your system model.

If audio driver is present, you can try updating audio drivers to latest version.

Or if you've already updated them, try to roll back previous version to see if that works.

Also, run Playing Audio troubleshooter from Settings app > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Let us know what it reports back.

If issue still persists, you can refer other suggestions in this fix:

    Hi, good day!

I'll be asking a few questions so I can have a better idea what solutions to provide.

    • When was the last time it worked properly?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer recently?
    • What is the exact make and model of your computer?
    • Have you tried the AI suggessted solutions?

Press Windows key+R to open Run then type: msinfo32

    Press Enter

Please take a screenshot of the System Information window and post it in your next response. Note: Don't include any personal information or sensitive data as Microsoft Q&A is a public forum.

I look forward to your update and am happy to continue working with you until the issue is resolved. If you find the answer helpful, please click "Accept Answer" and consider upvoting it. Otherwise, please keep me posted by clicking "Add comments" below instead of selecting Yes or No.

Follow these steps in Windows 11 to fix the “No audio device is installed” issue:

    1. Check that Windows sees an audio device
      1. Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. If no audio device is listed, or it shows a warning icon, continue with driver steps below.
    2. Update the audio driver automatically
      1. In Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers, right-click the audio device (for example, Realtek, Intel, or your speaker/headset name).
      2. Select Update driver.
      3. Select Search automatically for drivers.
      4. Complete the wizard and then test sound.
      5. If Windows does not find a driver, download the latest audio driver from the PC or motherboard manufacturer’s support site and install it, then test again.
    3. Reinstall the audio driver
      1. In Device Manager, right-click the audio device under Sound, video and game controllers.
      2. Select Uninstall device.
      3. Check Attempt to remove the driver for this device and select Uninstall.
      4. Restart the PC (save all work first). Windows will attempt to reinstall the audio driver automatically.
      5. After restart, test sound.
    4. Use the generic Windows audio driver
      1. Open Device Manager again.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right-click the audio device and select Update driver.
      4. Select Browse my computer for drivers.
      5. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
      6. Select the audio device driver shown, click Next, and follow the prompts.
      7. Test sound.
    5. If the problem started after a Windows Update
      1. Open Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers and right-click the audio device.
      3. Select PropertiesDriver tab → Roll Back Driver.
      4. Follow the prompts and select Yes to roll back.
      5. Test sound.
      6. If roll back is not available or does not help, use a system restore point created before the problem started. See “Restore from a system restore point” in Recovery options in Windows (linked in the referenced article).
    6. Run the built-in audio troubleshooter
      1. Open SettingsSystemTroubleshootOther troubleshooters.
      2. Run Playing Audio and apply any fixes it suggests.

If Device Manager shows no audio device at all even after reinstalling drivers and using the troubleshooter, this can indicate a hardware issue on the PC or motherboard; in that case, contact the device manufacturer’s support.
