The “What needs your attention” screen is an official Windows setup warning that appears when the PC does not meet the minimum system requirements for Windows 11 or when there are compatibility issues.
From the documentation:
- The “What needs your attention” message indicates a compatibility issue with one or more of:
- Driver
- Hardware
- App
- Windows feature
- These issues “can lead to an unexpected experience. For this reason, the Windows upgrade isn't offered.”
- When the message explicitly says:
- “this PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for running Windows 11… installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended… your PC will no longer be supported and won't be entitled to receive updates… damages… aren't covered under the manufacturer warranty,”
Official guidance in this situation is:
- Microsoft recommends not proceeding with the Windows upgrade on devices that do not meet the minimum system requirements.
- For devices that do not meet requirements, see the guidance in “Windows 11 on devices that don't meet minimum system requirements.”
- If the upgrade is blocked due to a known compatibility issue, Windows Update will offer the upgrade later only if the issue is resolved.
So:
- The screen being shown is real and expected when requirements are not met or a bypass has been used.
- The text on that screen is not saying “this is safe to ignore”; it is a formal warning that the PC is unsupported for Windows 11 and may not receive updates or warranty coverage if installation continues.
- The documented recommendation is to stay on the current supported Windows version rather than proceed on unsupported hardware.
If continuing anyway, that is a personal choice taken against Microsoft’s recommendation and with the stated risks (no support, no guaranteed updates, possible compatibility problems).
