Minecraft Launcher,Teamspeak restarting explorer glitch maybe?

Hi, I experienced a strange issue on Windows 11 and I want to describe it clearly.

While the Minecraft Launcher was updating, I manually restarted explorer.exe. At that exact moment, Windows suddenly showed a blue “setup-style” screen with a loading circle and only two options available: Accessibility and Sound. It looked like the Windows installation or OOBE screen, even though my system is a fresh install.

After signing out and logging back in, everything returned to normal. No real installation happened — it seems like Windows temporarily failed to load the desktop shell and showed a fallback setup screen instead.

I also had TeamSpeak 3 open at the time, but nothing else unusual was happening.

Just wanted to report this in case it helps identify what caused the glitch.

Thanks.xx

    Hi,

What might have happened is that you're using a local account when logging into Minecraft, and with your Microsoft account, it transformed the local account into a Microsoft account, which can load OOBE for information.

If you switch back to a Microsoft account for local login, you need to uncheck the option in Start Menu > Settings > System > Notifications > Settings > Add. Uncheck both options for OOBE not to reload to suggest migrating to a Microsoft account or info shell again.

The behavior described matches a temporary shell/startup glitch rather than a real reinstall or OOBE.

On Windows 11, when Explorer.exe or other shell components fail to start correctly, Windows can briefly fall back to a minimal “setup-style” or blank/black screen experience. This is similar to the black/blank screen and shell issues documented for Windows 11, where:

    • The desktop, Start menu, taskbar, or Explorer can fail to load.
    • Users may see a blank or simplified screen until the shell recovers or they sign out and back in.

In the scenario described, restarting Explorer.exe while the Minecraft Launcher was updating likely caused a momentary failure in the shell startup sequence. Windows then displayed a minimal setup-like UI while it tried to complete background tasks or recover the shell. Because signing out and logging back in restored the normal desktop and no further errors occurred, this points to a transient shell issue rather than system corruption.

Unless this behavior starts happening repeatedly (for example, frequent black/blank screens, Start menu not opening, or Explorer crashing on logon), no further action is required. If it does recur, it should be treated like other shell/blank-screen problems: check for Windows updates, driver issues, and problematic apps, and follow standard troubleshooting for unexpected restarts, stop errors, or blank/black screens.
