- Open Settings.
- Go to Accounts > Access work or school (briefcase icon).
- Select the old work account you no longer use.
- Click Disconnect and confirm.
If you no longer have access to that device but want to remove its registration from your work account:
- Go to
https://myaccount.microsoft.com/device-listin a browser. - Expand the device details.
- Select Disable lost device.
Add a new work account to Windows
- Open Settings.
- Go to Accounts > Access work or school.
- Select Connect.
- Enter the new work account email and sign in.
- When prompted on the Entra account registration page:
- Select Yes if the device should be registered with the organization so apps can use the work account automatically.
- Select No, this app only if only a specific app should use that account and the device should not be registered.
What happens if “Yes” is selected when adding the work account
- The device is registered in the organization’s directory.
- The work account becomes available to desktop and web apps that use that account for sign-in, often without re-entering credentials.
- Basic device info (device name, OS version, join type, owner, management and compliance status, registration date, last active) becomes visible in the organization’s directory.
If only OneDrive work or school access is needed (for example, on Android or iOS), add or remove the account directly in the OneDrive app instead of Windows Settings.
